    Kennydale | A place on the lake to put down roots

    Residents of Kennydale are having a hard time continuing to keep their neighborhood a secret.

    The lakeside community in northeast Renton has flown under the radar with flashier Eastside areas garnering more attention.

    Not anymore. Kennydale is now home to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, the new Seattle Seahawks training facility that opened this summer for the Seahawks and public viewing of their practices.

    Additionally, The Landing, an upscale urban village with shopping, restaurants, a movie theater and apartments, is remaking the landscape just south of Kennydale’s border.

    More new businesses at The Landing in Renton grand opening this Spring

    Nine new dining, retail and service tenants are set to open at The Landing in north Renton beginning this fall and into 2009.

    As exterior construction begins to wrap-up, the heart of The Landing is taking shape. A grand opening is scheduled for this spring.

    “The Landing is becoming a neighborhood with its own unique identity,” said Bob Baker, a partner at Harvest Partners, the developer of The Landing. “The Landing is a key to making South Lake Washington a walkable neighborhood where people can meet friends, grab a bite to eat and shop.”  Continued…  Nine new tenants for The Landing; grand opening this spring  -Renton Reporter

    New YMCA in Newcastle under construction

    The Coal Creek YMCA is now under construction in Newcastle off Newcastle Golf Club Road.  The YMCA will serve south Bellevue, Newcastle, north Renton and southeast Issaquah. The new 49,000-square-foot YMCA is anticipated to open in fall 2009 and will have a fully accessible swimming pool, teen center, community meeting space, teaching kitchen  and health and wellness facilities for all ages, interests and abilities.

    8 Reasons Your Home Hasn’t Sold Yet - Advice for Frustrated Clients 

    In October 2005, David Raimondi put his 100-year-old Allendale, N.J., house and barn on the market, asking $525,000. It’s been almost three years, and the property has still not sold.

    Raimondi, a housepainter who wants to move to a less expensive area, is one of the growing ranks of frustrated sellers whose homes have been on the market for more than a year. Though most sellers don’t stay on the market for years, Realtors say the average time between listing and sale has stretched out during the housing slump.

    These sellers’ experiences show just how tough the market is. Still, real estate agents say, there are buyers out there, and it’s possible to sell a property if you take the right steps. Interviews with real estate experts, along with a closer look at Raimondi’s story, offer these lessons for sellers:

    1. The First Offer is Often the Best Offer. There’s a reason this is a real estate cliché. Within a week or two after Raimondi first listed his house in October 2005, he got an offer for $495,000–$30,000 less than his asking price. He turned it down, convinced he could do better.
